I call the beautiful mountains of Northwest Wyoming home. I live in Jackson Hole with my wonderful husband, Bart, and our four-legged best friend, Lucky. I was raised in the deep south but knew I was home when I saw the Tetons for the first time when I was 16. Since then, I’ve traveled many places but have always returned to Jackson and the Tetons. My inspiring parents also live in the area and spend their days skiing, hiking and travelling. After several years of seasonal work and outdoor/wilderness education, I decided to pursue a career in Chinese Medicine. After earning my masters degree in Boulder, CO, I opened a practice in Jackson. I’ve found the five years I’ve practiced to be an opportunity to help people, form lasting relationships and continue to learn and grow personally. When not at my clinic, I fill my time with whitewater kayaking, climbing, skiing and biking. I try to get outside and move every single day. Many of my friendships are centered around mountain activities, so getting outdoors means seeing friends and having fun. Through outdoor pursuits, I learn new skills, challenge myself and capture the spirit of adventure that influences all parts of my life.
Bart and I share a love of travel and adventure. Travel takes me out of my culture’s perceptions of who I “should” be and what I “should” be doing and allows me to be more open to spontaneity and new experiences. It has been a long-term goal for me to spend a year traveling before I’m 40. Feeling restless and ready (for me the five-year itch), we decided to pack up our stuff, rent our house and hit the road. Finding a new challenge in learning to climb, we decided to climb our way through the classic moderate routes of the western US. With camper and dog in tow, we biked and climbed our way through the Southwest, visiting and meeting friends along the way.
After Christmas at home with friends and family, we are currently in South-East Asia, enjoying the culture, limestone crags and delicious food. It has been and continues to be a great adventure. Every day I meet interesting and inspiring people who are choosing to see the world for themselves rather than on the television.
After years of wearing men’s outdoor wear made smaller to (poorly) fit women, I was delighted to find Lolë. The pieces fit my active lifestyle and make me feel feminine yet ready to hit the trail or reach for the next hold. The Lolë philosophy of making the most of every day, following your dreams and being a strong woman are the ideals I strive for in life. By being a friend for Lolë, I hope to inspire other women to embody these values by challenging themselves, trying new things and look great doing it.
