Michigan in the summer.
One of the biggest lessons that I have learned through yoga is how important it is to take care of ourselves, so that we will be able to give our best to those around us. I decided that I needed a little adventure filled with the perfect balance of outdoor activity, friends, family and relaxation. I set out to tour the beaches on the west coast of Michigan meeting up with family and friends along the way.
I traveled to South Haven, Grand Haven and Traverse City, all on the coast of beautiful Lake Michigan. We spent our days walking & running on the beach, doing yoga, swimming, going to the farmer’s market, cooking together, flying our kites, making handmade journals, taking photographs, and playing with the kids in the water.
In Grand Haven my favorite evening activity was the friendly backyard croquet tournaments…needless to say, I did not get my croquet mallet placed in the Hall of Fame.
In Traverse City we saw a 4th of July air show by the Blue Angels, toured the vineyards, played on the beach and visited local restaurants. My favorite restaurant was the Cook’s House, which serves local sustainable cuisine. The restaurant was small and cozy with fresh herbs and vegetables grown outside. The food was delicious!
After such a nice beach adventure I made my way back to my home in the city feeling rejuvenated, inspired, and relaxed.
